Jeff Lipsky is a celebrity, lifestyle, and advertising photographer known for his fresh, optimistic imagery. “I try to take the most beautiful photo I can, not just for the client but for myself,” says Jeff. “I like to make women look beautiful and men look cool. I like seeing people feel good—it makes me feel good.” His clients range from apparel brands (Eddie Bauer, Roxy, and Moonshine, country star Brad Paisley’s clothing line), to food and beverage brands (Jim Beam, Häagen-Dazs, vitaminwater), to technology and pharma companies (Verizon, Amgen, Novartis) entertainment companies (including TV Land, Showtime, and Fox). He has also shot countless entertainment campaigns and album packaging.
As a portrait photographer, Jeff has worked with Chris Pratt, Jeff Bridges, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg, Jimmy Kimmel, Julianne Moore, Emily Blunt, Gina Rodriguez, and Kerry Washington, among many others. In 2017, the Academy of Arts and Sciences commissioned him to shoot portraits of all of the Oscar winners after the awards telecast.
Jeff is also in demand in the music industry, having photographed pop stars like Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, and Shakira, R&B artists like John Legend and Usher, and country music’s biggest names, including Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, and Kenny Chesney.
Before he moved to Southern California in 1998 to pursue photography, Jeff lived in Colorado, snowboarding in the winter and working as a fly-fishing guide in the summer. “After graduating from Boston University, I strapped my skis on top of my car and didn’t stop until I reached Telluride,” he recalls. “I wanted to ski for a season but ended up staying for 10 years.” Now based in the Palisades area of Los Angeles, he occasionally takes celebrities on outdoors adventures and makes time to teach emerging photographers the art of shooting portraits.
“I am always happy behind the camera,” says Jeff. “It’s still a rush.”
